Mohammed Al Buraimi, Manager of the section, said the corporation was geared to meet customers’ needs round the clock. “We were all set to provide the cab service required through automatic booking system during the holiday.”
Al Buraimi said they increased the number of the call centre shifts and employees to handle customers’ requests, and added on-call staffers, particularly for peak hours from 4pm to 2am.
“The centre, which is reachable round the clock at 600545455, saw a significant rise of 19 per cent in the number of cab bookings during the feast days compared to regular days. It received a total of 2,762 calls, an increase of 12 per cent on the three days of the feast against normal days,” he added.
Further, Al Buraimi said the centre received 400 bookings of family taxis during the period. “The Sharjah Transport cab crew at the Sharjah International Airport was also supported with 55 additional taxis to meet the demand during the holiday.”
Khalid Al Khayal, Manager of Intercity Transport Department, said 250 vehicles were specified for commuting the increasing number of passengers during the holiday. “Sharjah Transport contracted eight bus renting companies to support the intercity public bus crew. We also provided 40 employees at Al Jubail main bus station to handle the passengers,” he added.
He said that Sharjah Transport is operating 142 intercity bus trips on a daily basis. “The number was raised to 474 on the Eid Al Fitr days; this means 332 extra trips. Also the frequency time was cut to meet the demand from the public.”
