Drivers need to be cautious and take alternative roads as the arterial Al Ittihad road is to be partially and temporarily closed in Sharjah, according to official sources.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Sharjah on Monday morning announced that the road will be closed opposite the Ansar Mall only on Fridays for three weeks.

"This batch of the road will be closed down for necessary works to build a pedestrian flyover."

The road will be partially closed on October 27, and November 3 and 10 for six hours a day, they added.

"The road batch will be closed down from 3am to 9am on these Fridays."

The project is aimed to continue the planned development works and boost the performance of the roads of the emirate, they underlined.

"The new pedestrian footbridge is also meant to ensure people's safety and curb run-over accidents against Al Ansar Mall between Al Mamzar and Al Nahda areas."

Drivers are all urged to use alternative roads and follow the road signs to avoid road congestions, they said.

The RTA Sharjah is more than ready to respond to customers' feedbacks and complaints. "RTA Sharjah Call Centre is reachable 24/7 at (600525252) for feedbacks, inquiries, remarks and complaints."
