The decision has been taken after noticing an 166 per cent increase in fatalities in accidents on the road so far this year as compared to the same period last year.

Brigadier Mohammed Ahmed Ghanim Al Kaabi, Commander-in-Chief of the Fujairah Police, said reducing the death rate in traffic accidents is one of the most important objectives of the police. “Performance indicators are analysed as part of the strategic objectives of the Interior Ministry. Accordingly, the decisions which ensure achieving these objectives are taken. These include reducing the speed limits and intensifying traffic patrols on the roads,” he said.
