10-hour delays on Emirates Bali flights due to volcano

Dubai - The airline is offering a variety of alternate destinations for travelers who booked travel to Bali on or before July 9th, with travel taking place before July 20th.

Emirates Airways flights to and from Bali are experiencing 10 hour delays due to volcanic ash clouds stemming from the unpredictable volcanic activity of Indonesia's Mount Raung, according to an Emirates spokesperson. 
"Passengers who wish to maintain their travel to Bali, Emirates' flights will continue to operate with a delayed departure time of 10 hours from Dubai to Bali and 10 hours from Bali to Dubai to ensure that flights are operating in and out of the city during daylight hours," the spokesperson said. 
Additionally, the airline is offering a variety of alternate destinations for travelers who booked travel to Bali on or before July 9th, with travel taking place before July 20th. 
The available alternate destinations are Bangkok, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Singapore, Male, Mauritius, Seychelles or Phuket, with rebookings made in the same booking class at no additional cost.
Emirates flights to the Indonesian capital of Jakarta are unaffected. 
A spokesperson for Etihad Airways said that "operations are running as normal" for the airline, which flies direct from Abu Dhabi to Jakarta. 
Bali's Ngurah Rai International Airport - which handles about 48,000 passengers daily - reopened on Saturday after remaining closed for several days. 
Mount Raung, which is located approximately 150 kilometres to the west of Bali, first erupted on July 2, sending an ash cloud towards Bali and stranding thousands of international tourists at the height of the island's tourist season.
