100% students may return to Abu Dhabi schools from Jan
Abu Dhabi - Parents, students to be given two weeks to switch between e-learning and in-person classes
Education authorities in Abu Dhabi have asked schools to give parents and students the option to switch their preferred learning mode for two weeks once classes resume in January.
Schools in the Capital can resume in-person classes with 100 per cent students for the new academic term that begins on January 3, 2021. Parents and students have the option to choose their preferred mode of education — digital or in-person.
As the emirate’s private schools prepare for the return of all students, the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) is coordinating with the managements to ensure all Covid safety protocols are followed.
Schools have been instructed to survey parents and students to assess their “appetite for continuing a distance learning model versus a physical return to classrooms”.
The Adek is also working closely with relevant health authorities to coordinate health tests for students in cycle 2 and 3 ahead of their return to school. “Details about the testing process and frequency will be announced in due course,” the education regulator said.
The safety guidelines that were issued in August by Adek remain in place for all students. The Adek will continue its inspection visits to ensure compliance with the measures.
