The Ajman Police withdrew driving licences of 106 drivers who have recorded 24 black points during the first quarter of this year.
Colonel Humaid Al Musaibi, Director of Traffic and Patrol at Ajman Police, said that 39 of the driving licences were of reckless drivers who were detected by radars causing danger to others on the road. Asian drivers formed 40 per cent of these, followed by Emiratis (27 per cent), Arabs (26 per cent) and Europeans and Africans, with one percent each.
Col Al Musaibi pointed out that the total number of licences withdrawn in 2015 was 292, a seven per cent decline compared to 2014.
He added that in 2015, the police arrested four drivers due to serious violations and referred them to court. He warned that drivers who caught driving after withdrawal of their driving licences will face legal action, and urged motorists to follow the roles to avoid the tough penalties and ensure safety and security for themselves and others.
Col Al Musaibi also advised motorists to consider the black points as measurement of their driving ability and to improve it instead of adding black points through further violations which lead to withdrawal of the licences.
The Ajman Police have implemented the black points rehabilitation programmes which grant drivers another chance after the education and awareness classes on traffic safety. The programme targets the drivers who recorded 24 black points for three consecutive periods, as the number of the black points reaches 72.
