In a bid to meet public expectation, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development has carried out 107 maintenance and development projects this year.
The development works are meant to improve the performance of schools, as well as federal and local buildings across the country, according to a senior official.
Eman Al Mansuri, director of tender and contracts department at the ministry, said 25 per cent of these projects were in Fujairah and 24 per cent in Sharjah. "Sixteen per cent of the projects were in Ras Al Khaimah, 13 per cent in Ajman, while the remaining projects were in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Umm Al Quwain.
The ministry has maintained 25 schools all over the UAE. "These include 11 in Sharjah, seven in Ras Al Khaimah, and eight in Ajman and Fujairah."
"The maintenance projects accomplished in Fujairah spanned a number of health care centres in Dibba Fujairah, Twain, Halah, Qadfaa, and Wadi Sidr, let alone many mosques, the court building, cultural centre, and the fruit research station."
Al Mansuri said most of the schools and kindergartens maintained were in Sharjah. "These are added to several first health care centres, vet and agricultural centres, dams, hospitals, and courts across the emirate."
As for the maintenance projects done in Ras Al Khaimah, these spanned the development of a number of health care centres. "These are apart from developing several mosques and schools all over the emirate. Also under the project were the development of the Shawka Dam outlet, Saqr Al Uraibi Hospital, Ibrahim Obaidullah Hospital, and the Al Muairidh cemetery."
Apart from school buildings, maintenance projects carried out in Ajman included the cultural centre, a preventive medicine complex, and the judiciary premises.
All the development works done are in line with the directives of sustainability adopted in the country, Al Mansuri said.
