Eleven Dubai businesses have been fined over Covid-19 safety violations in the latest inspection of open markets and shopping centres, authorities announced on Tuesday.

Nine establishments were issued fines for their employees' failure to wear masks and two for violating the physical distancing rule, the Dubai Economy said. Two gyms were also penalised in an inspection held in cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council.
The safety violations were spotted in outlets operating in retail, shipping, installation of air-conditioning systems, general trade, ready-made garments, and security devices and equipment trade, as well as a money exchange and a consumer complex. They were located at various shopping centres and in Al Nahda, Al Khabaisi, Al Rigga, and Hor Al Anz East.
Two other businesses were warned for not placing physical distancing stickers as required. Overall, inspectors from the authority's Commercial Compliance and Consumer Protection sector found that 685 shops and commercial establishments fully complied with the measures.
Dubai Economy has reiterated its call for everyone to report any violation through the Dubai Consumer app, on 600545555, or by visiting the consumerrights.ae website.
