A 13-year-old girl, who went missing two days ago in Ras Al Khaimah, was found in Sharjah on Wednesday, police said.
Her father initially thought she was kidnapped at home as he couldn't find her anywhere, said Brig Abdullah Ali Menakhas, director-general of police operations at the RAK Police. However, it turned out that she ran away over some family issues.
"She has willingly travelled to Sharjah and no one has kidnapped her as reported by her worried father," Brig Menakhas said.
The RAK Police, with the help of Sharjah cops, managed to track her down and reunited her with her family.
"Search teams from the criminal investigation and organised crime departments were immediately formed to gather all possible details," the officer said.
Brig Menakhas warned the public against spreading rumours and urged them to verify all information they are sharing online.
"Many of the stories and posts shared on social media are fake and baseless, and those involved in publishing them will face legal action," he said.
