As many as 14 passengers have lost their passports in the Dubai airport incident, according to the Consulate General of India in Dubai.
"We will take care of that aspect. They will be issued new passports," Deputy Consul General Muraleedharan K. told Khaleej Times on Thursday.
But largely, Dubai seems to have moved on from Wednesday's incident as the Dubai Consulate hasn't received even a single call for assistance on Thursday.
"Maybe the people are still in shock. They had a very tough time yesterday and they could very well be resting," he said.
Now the consulate is expecting help seekers only by Sunday as Friday and Saturday are holidays.
"They can approach us on the helpline numbers in next two days and we will ready to provide them assistance," he said.
The Indian Embassy, too, didn't receive any calls to their help desk.
"None have called us today. Dubai Consulate is providing all help. Since none from Abu Dhabi are involved, I think the passengers will not need Embassy's assistance," Indian Ambassador to the UAE TP Seetharam said.
With flights getting delayed, many people from Dubai are hitting the road to Abu Dhabi airport.
"Unless they have issues with passport, they may not need our assistance," the ambassador said. "But we are always open to help those in need," he added.
