Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has added 1,487 new cars to its fleet spending Dh120 million. The company has also bought 246 hybrid vehicles.
The DTC announced that it has bought new cars from Toyota and Lexus, including the Toyota Camry, Hiace and Innova, and Lexus ES from Al Futtaim Motors. Senior officials at the DTC made this announcement at the 2nd UITP MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition.
A contract was signed by Abdulmohsin Younes, CEO, Rail Agency, and Head of the Supervision committee over DTC and Bertrand Thiebaut, Senior Managing Director of Al Futtaim Motors, and was overseen by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, Member of Executive Board of Directors, Roads Transport Authority and Yousef Al Ali, CEO of Dubai Taxi Corporation.
Dr Yousif Al Ali said: "We held a limited tender with distributors for the purchase of 1,487 vehicles, which Al Futtaim Motors won, considering our long-standing strategic partnership."
He said that the DTC currently runs around 5,000 vehicles. "We have also received 246 Toyota Camry Hybrid vehicles, as part of a comprehensive framework to reduce carbon emissions."
