Marina Mall is 15 years old this spring and to mark the occasion it is throwing a 15 days party. From March 28 till April 11, one of the capital's oldest malls is having an Inspiring Moments festival, a food, games and shopping extravaganza for both adults and children.
"It is with great pride that we celebrate Marina Mall's 15th anniversary - and it is fitting for us to do it by creating more inspiring moments through this exciting calendar of events for the whole family to enjoy," said Tarek Tohami, acting general manager at Marina Mall.
Opened in 2001 with 150 shops, Marina Mall is home to over 400 retail outlets today, visited by 16 million people every year. One of its prominent features is a revolving restaurant at the top of an observation tower that is 110 meters high or the equivalent of 30 floors. Its latest added attraction is a Ferris wheel, where the Inspiring Moments festival begins.
Here there will be several food trucks, from Burger House and Huguette to Guy Crêperies, Man'oushe Street and Meylas, all stationed next to Marina Eye, in front of the mall during these 15 days.
Indoors, visitors of all ages can team up and compete in a series of life-size board games including scrabble and UNO, while children can get creative in a Warner Bros arts and crafts workshop, running from 2 pm to 10 pm daily.
The timeless Tom and Jerry cartoons will come to life on stage during April 5-8, from 4 pm till 9 pm. The anniversary festival further features sales at participating stores, giving shoppers an opportunity to enter a raffle draw to win big prizes.
"Around 50 tenants are taking part in the anniversary sales," said Wafa Habbar, marketing and Events Coordinator at Marina Mall.
"As part of our 15th anniversary campaign, we collaborated with our tenants to showcase their latest deals and offers. We also included them within the raffle draws, by displaying their prizes around the mall throughout the two weeks," she also told Khaleej Times.
The 50 participating shops are offering sales between 15 and 60 percent, while the raffle draw will give prizes to 15 winners that include a diamond jewellery set worth Dh 70,000, a gold Porsche watch worth Dh 28,000, airline tickets to Europe.
To enter the live raffle draw on April 11, shoppers must spend at least Dh 250 at any retail store or dining outlet at the mall or Dh 500 at Carrefour.
Wristbands to access the activities may be purchased from the mall's main Customer Service Desk. All proceeds from sales will be donated to Let Hope Shine, which is an initiative by Marina Mall that aims to improve lives and create opportunities for people around the world.
