To ring in the festive spirit of the UAE's 45th National Day, the students of Our Own High School, Al Warqa'a, Dubai, participated in a spectacular human formation on their school grounds.
Almost 1,650 students participated in the colorful 'I Love UAE' formation. The word 'love' was depicted through a heart that comprised the UAE Flag. The UAE Flag formed within the heart clearly conveyed the message, 'UAE in our Hearts'. School headmistress Anjuli Murthy addressed the gathering reminding the students that the aim of the event and the values they gain from such events should be part of their life-long learning process.
The students of grades 5-7 wore T-shirts and caps representing the colours of the National flag and bordered their love for the nation using blue and yellow colours.
Principal Sanjeev Jolly said: "Today we have gathered our students to express our sincere gratitude towards the UAE for giving us a wonderful environment to live in and grow as responsible individuals. The UAE has always given its best and been a home away from home for all of us. We will not miss any opportunity to express our gratitude towards the nation."
The formation marked as a spectacular concluding event to the week-long National Day celebrations with patriotic-themed assemblies, songs, dance and words of wisdom shared by dignitaries and the school leadership team.
Amidst the celebration, the school also extended homage to the martyrs of the nation by singing a prayer song mentioning them as the "pride of our nation who ill rest in our prayers always".
Teacher Valinrita Patel (new in Dubai) shared her excitement on being part of such an event for the first time. She said: "It has been an amazing experience to witness and be a part of this unique and awesome celebration of the UAE National Day during the entire week. The UAE flag formation by the students was such a treat to watch. I consider myself fortunate to be a part of not only Our Own High school but also this beautiful, safe.
