The UAE Armed Forces announced signing of deals worth Dh5 billion on the opening day of the International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and the Naval Defence Exhibition (NAVDEX) in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

Out of the 19 contracts worth Dh5,030,235,968, as many as 12 were secured by local companies. The official spokespersons at a press conference noted that Dh3.93 billion worth deals were inked by local firms and Dh1.09 billion by overseas companies.
Abu Dhabi-based Calidus, a technology development and manufacturing company, clinched deals worth Dh1.697 billion to buy 12 B-250 jets, the International Golden Group got deal worth Dh689 million, Global Aerospace Logistics Dh410 million, Maximus Air Dh293 million, Al Masaood Dh250 million, NIMR Dh230 million, AMMROC Dh175 million, Etihad Ship Building Dh60 million, Wolf Sbane Dh51 million, Bin Hilal Dh45 million and Al Fattan Dh35 million.
Meanwhile, seven overseas companies: US firm INSITU Dh405 million, two France-based companies Thales Dh350 million and Ouvry SAS Dh101 million, Serbian Yugoimport Dh74 million, German company Rheinmetall Electronics Dh57 million, South African Denel SOC Dh50 million and Spanish firm Technobit Dh51 million.
The five-day mega exhibition is organised by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company, in cooperation with the Ministry of Defense and the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces.
