Jacky Panjabi made up his mind to establish a business in Dubai during a two-day stop-over in Dubai more than three decades ago. And now, Jacky's Electronics is a household name in the UAE.
"In February 1985, I was en route to London on a business trip and on my way back to Hong Kong, I decided to stop over for two days in Dubai."
Despite the initial difficulties during the two-day visit, he got a different impression from a business point of view. After meeting with a few companies, he realised the ease of doing business in Dubai, particularly when comparing prices.
"As soon as I was back in Hong Kong, I discussed with my elder brother, Ishwar Panjabi, who was our company's group president then, some potential business in Dubai. After some time, he asked me to visit the emirate again to do buying for our business."
In August 1985, the group established a start-up company in Dubai. Talking about business environment here, he said the emirate has become more efficient and business-friendly.
