The Abu Dhabi Police have arrested two Asians for allegedly murdering a compatriot colleague in the Ruwais area of Western Region over some disputes they had back in their homeland.
They were arrested within 24 hours after the fatal attack, a senior police official said, adding that the suspects tried to hide the sharp tool they used in the murder.
Major-General Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Police, praised the efforts of the General Directorate of Police Operations in the Western Region for the immediate arrest of the suspects.
According to Al Sharifi, one of the accused had some family disputes with the victim, identified as B.B., who worked in a private firm in the Western Region. He hired the other accused to murder the victim. Both the accused worked in the same company of the victim.
Both the accused planned the murder and hit B.B. on his head with a sharp iron object. The attack made a serious cut, leading to heavy bleeding, which resulted in immediate death of the victim, said Major-General Al Sharifi.
The suspects then hid the weapon they used for the murder in a sewerage tank. They also got rid of their clothes in the same way, to destroy the evidence.
The police received information about the body of an Asian found in Al Ruwais area. The investigation team collected evidence and identified the victim, following which his colleagues and others were interrogated.
The police managed to identify the suspects who confessed to the crime. They also led police to the place where they hid the weapon and their dress after the crime.
Both the accused have been referred to public prosecution.
