The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has impounded 21 trucks and transport vehicles from the Baniyas area and issued 11 fines for distorting the civilised appearance of the city.
Violations were detected during the municipality's three-day campaign at Baniyas East targeting the "disorderly parking" of large vehicles such as trucks and transport vehicles.
"The objective of the campaign was to curb elements disfiguring the appearance of the city in implementation of the Law No. 2 for 2012 regarding the protection of the public appearance, health and tranquility in Abu Dhabi emirate," the civic body said in a Press release.
Vehicle owners are given a three-day notice period to remove their vehicles, failing which they are impounded. "The municipality noticed that large-sized vehicles and trucks were ... parked within the residential areas and public yards of Baniyas. This practice causes inconvenience to residents and mars the appearance of the city. Vehicle owners were served warnings to remove or clean such vehicles. Following the lapse of the notice period, the vehicles were removed," said the municipality.
