The Ministry of Health and Prevention has banned the sale of three brands of honey - Youth Royal Honey, VIP Royal Honey and Bio-Herbs Royal King Honey - as the brands contained dangerous ingredients. These brands were found to put users' life at risk and posed a threat to their health, said Dr Amin Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for public health and licences policy at the ministry.
Dr Amiri, who is also chairman of the higher committee for medicine vigilance, said the three products contain a substance called 'tadalafil', which causes severe decrease in blood pressure and could pose threat to heart patients, diabetics and persons who suffer from high level in glycosides, especially those who use medicines containing nitrates.
"With the growing phenomenon of sale of dietary supplements, the Ministry of Health and Prevention finds it necessary to warn and alert the public not to use these products, which put their lives at risk," he added.
