Over 34 per cent of the family issues recorded last year in Sharjah were marital disputes, the emirate's Family Development Centre (SFDC) has revealed.
The emirate recorded 505 family disputes last year.
Moza Al Shehi, director of branches, SFDC, said "comprehensive initiatives and programmes" aimed at developing the family structure and strengthening society will be rolled out in 2016.
An education caravan will visit schools in the emirate and educate students about "negative practices".
An initiative called 'Ratbak' (wage) will offer guidance services to those affected by debts. Ratbak will also offer advice on budget management.
Huda Al Wakeel, director of quality section at the SFDC, said the family guidance section received 503 complainants, of whom 78 per cent were women. She said the family guidance section helped resolve multiple issues and carried out awareness campaigns.
