Emirati Fahad Mohammed Ali, who became the region's first double amputee to wear 3D-printed prosthetic legs, said his new legs are so comfortable that he can "almost feel" his toes.
Showing off his bright orange legs at an event in Dubai on Tuesday, the 25-year-old said he didn't experience any pain in his hips, as was the case with his earlier prosthetics. The paralympic champion was able to walk with the "maximum feeling of anatomical function".
Fahad, who had his legs amputated as a child, said he chose orange for his prosthetics as it is an "attractive and positive colour". "I even wear shorts now, as I am confident, and can show off my prosthetics."
The department of humanitarian services at the Dubai Health Authority fully supported and funded the Dh100,000 prosthetics.
