The Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court has sentenced four expats, who were convicted of flesh trade, to life in prison.
The four convicts were part of a nine-member gang arrested red-handed by the RAK Police.
The court ordered the fifth accused, an African resident identified only as AA, to serve five years in prison, and be deported after completion of his jail term.
The four prostitutes, implicated in the case, were sentenced to three years in prison, and deportation thereafter.
As per the sheet of indictment, the gang unleashed control over, and lived off the earnings of some prostitutes they forced into flesh trade.
Court records show that the gang members used to exploit the expat women on their expired visas.
Acting on a tip-off, the RAK Police launched intensive investigation, and collected all the evidence needed.
They raided the house where a brothel was being run and arrested all the suspects red-handed.
The gang was referred to the public prosecution and then to the criminal court which found them guilty, and gave them different jail terms.
A few days back, a young African man stood trial at the Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court on charges of working as a watchman for a duo involved in human trafficking in the emirate.
Court records show that the duo lured many young women with lucrative jobs to come into the country.
After they arrived, the women were kept in two separate houses, while their passports and cell phones were forcibly taken. They were then pushed into prostitution. The third suspect was hired as a watchman of the two houses used as brothels.
