The Sharjah Police have busted a gang of four Pakistanis for their alleged involvement in a spate of robberies and burglaries in the industrial areas of the emirate. The four men were arrested red-handed by crime patrols as they broke into a shop in the middle of the night, the police said.
The police said the suspects resisted arrest violently and one of them tried to crash his vehicle into a police patrol.
During investigation, the police found the suspects broke into commercial outlets and made away with items ranging from building materials to groceries and electric wires.
The police seized cash and stolen items from the suspects. A pickup vehicle that the suspects used in committing the thefts has also been recovered. The vehicle belonged to a car rental company, the police said.
The suspects have reportedly confessed to the charges, based on which they were referred to the public prosecution. They had infiltrated the country specifically to carry out the thefts, the police added.
