Christmas Eve is totally happening this Saturday and a lot of UAE expats are already gearing up for it. Some have chosen to leave town, while some have friends of family visiting the city for both Christmas and New Year. So as the last few pages of 2016 come to a close, here are some activities worth checking out this weekend in Dubai.

Snowball fight in Dubai!

When: December 22, 12pm-1am
Where: Fort Island, Souk Madinat Jumeirah
This is a free event
We kid you not, if you have kids or you're a kid at heart yourself, Madinat Jumeirah is giving you the opportunity to throw snowballs and make snowmen. Not your type? There are other activities taking place such as bungee jumping, a market for your Christmas shopping and even a cookie garden to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Have a Christmas movie marathon for FREE

When: December 22, 6-9pm
Where: Bay Avenue, Business Bay
This is a free event
The holiday season is a time for giving, and giving entails getting things for free. Why not enjoy a back-to-back airing of classic Christmas movies such as "Home Alone" and "The Parent Trap" in an open-air cinema at Business Bay's new hangout Bay Avenue. Apart from free tickets, you also get FREE popcorn to enjoy your movie night.
