Working in Dubai is interesting. It's interesting because you get to meet many people coming from different cultures and walks of life. As there are many different colleagues, they all exhibit certain behaviour. Some of their behaviour, however, can be categorized into various types. Here are a few examples. They might even be at the desk right next to you.

The Organised One

The organised colleague can be easily detected by the nature of his/her desk. Everything is placed properly, the papers are neatly filed and their computer has every single project in separate folders. Something tells you deep inside that they're experts at Microsoft Excel.

The Gourmet

You'll be happier at work when you sit beside the gourmet. This kind of colleague always has food in their drawers and will be more than happy to share with you. Not only will you get food, you'll also get a different cultural experience. Get anything from India's chicken biryani to Philippine chicken adobo without breaking the bank.

The Mr/Ms Fancypants

They'll come to office wearing pieces from the latest collection of some obscure designer. They'll also exclaim "Why don't you know about that brand?" as they get the job done on their Macbooks.

The Thursday-holic

While every other work day is normal to them, Thursday is where it is at. Expect this colleague of yours to show up in their party clothes and dash off to one of the clubs in town to party the night away. Come Sunday, they'll show you photos from their Friday brunch. It's a cycle that goes on and on.

The Health Buff

They will give you unsolicited health advice such as: "Did you know that chips have this amount of MSG in them?", "Is that beef/chicken free-range?", "That burger has x amount of calories, are you sure?". They'll give all these tips to you as they munch on their acai bowl made fresh this morning. Their constant comments on your lunch make you wonder if you should have come to office with just a salad.
