Along with the Dubai Metro, the RTA bus is one of the most cost-efficient ways to get around the city.
With buses plying almost every single street in Dubai, it's a no brainer that a lot of people from various walks of life use this mode of transport to go from one place to another. With the many passengers it has, it's easy to see a lot of people commit some public transport faux pas.
These actions often cause inconvenience to other passengers, and instantly merit you their ire. If you want a pleasant journey, please try your best not to be these kinds of people on the RTA buses.

The Swinger

So you get on the bus and discover that there are no more seats. You're then compelled to stand up and hold on to the safety rails, they're called safety rails for a reason right? Except that instead of holding on tight, you wag and wave around as the bus takes a turn - you also become a rollercoaster ride when the bus takes a roundabout.

The Freeloader

The freeloaders are signing themselves up for trouble - big trouble. They get on the bus, forget (unintentionally or otherwise) to tag their card and get off the bus without paying a single penny. This is considered a violation by the RTA and if the authorities scan your card and see that you haven't paid, a fine is waiting for you.

The Roadblock

Ever went inside a crowded bus and find a vacant seat that nobody is taking? Lucky isn't it -except there is this one other passenger that refuses to nudge a little bit. He/she is the wall that separates you from getting your relaxation after you've walked a fair distance towards the bus stop - imagine having to face this during summer.

The Sleeper

While the RTA clearly states that it's illegal to sleep inside the bus stops, people do fall asleep inside buses. When you're getting comfy and catching some zzzs, there's a chance you might have your mouth open, loudly snore, or even occupy an extra seat or two.

The Foodie

Like the Dubai Metro, passengers also cannot eat inside the bus so keep that paratha in the bag. Those caught doing so may have to pay a fine of Dh100. Even chewing gum is discouraged in the RTA bus. After all, no one in the bus wants to hear your loud smacking and chewing.
