Over 5,000 passengers arriving at the Sharjah International Airport travelled to their destinations in limousines in under three months, it was announced on Sunday. The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) pushed 10 limos into service at the airport on July 19 as part of the trial phase of the project.
The luxury cars have transported 5,050 passengers in 2,020 trips since it was launched. In the next phase of the project, the authority will introduce 90 limos.
"The special service is in line with the authority's efforts to develop its shuttle services. Sharjah has become a tourist and cultural hub for visitors from around the globe," Abdulaziz Al Jarwan, the SRTA's director for transport affairs, said.
A trip from the airport to Sharjah city costs about Dh80, while to Ajman, it costs Dh85. If you plan to take the limo to travel to Abu Dhabi, it will set you back by Dh440.
"A trip from the airport to nearby areas like Al Noof and Al Garayen costs just Dh55," said Al Jarwan.
