Majority of UAE residents work a regular shift which runs from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. Another factor around this is that some residents live a fair distance away from their offices thus a wild goose chase ensues where you either have to join the huge crowd on both the Metro and the bus OR suffer bumper-to-bumper traffic from Sharjah to Dubai every single day. But fear not, here are some ways to wake up early and enjoy a stress-free commute from home to office.

Be an alarm clock pro

Whatever you do, resist the urge to tap on the snooze button or tell yourself '5 minutes more' once every 5 minutes. Put your alarm clock away from arms reach so that when it rings, you're obliged to stand up. This way you can easily maintain standing up and not falling asleep again. Another hack you can do is change the sound of your alarm to something you like. It's not advisable to always have the blaring old alarm sound since it messes with your brain. Instead, find something which you prefer - be it a snippet of music or your favourite radio station.

Open the windows

Not the windows itself but the blinds on the windows, natural sunlight helps stimulate the body to stop the release of melatonin which is the sleep hormone. Bonus points if you have views of Dubai's amazing skyscrapers.

Don't touch your smartphone

While you might be tempted to check on emails or notifications of what has transpired throughout the evening, don't touch your phone because you'll be tapping and feeling drowsy all over again.

Do something

Get moving! It can be as simple as walking from bedroom to the kitchen, or making coffee. Any move you make while you're standing up keeps you awake until you fully come to your senses ready for the day.

Have an evening ritual before sleeping

This differs from person to person. It can be having a cup of tea before bed or reading a few pages of a book. Whatever it is, know yourself and something you can do every night to prep you for bed.
