The Ras Al Khaimah Police have deployed 74 patrols on various roads of the emirates to attend to any emergency situation caused by rain.
The emergency team is all set to ensure public safety, said Major-General Ali Abdullah bin Alwan Al Nuaimi, General Commander of the RAK Police.
"People are urged to avoid the valleys, mountains and bridges for their safety," he said, announcing that "some roads that lead to the mountains of the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah have been closed down". The heavy rains are accompanied by strong winds and the showers can trigger landslides, he warned.
"All police stations in the emirate are geared up to deal with any emergency report round the clock."
He said it is better to stay home unless it is very important to venture out. "Young children should be kept home for their safety."
"It is also crucial to follow the latest weather updates to remain safe amid the weather fluctuations."
All drivers need to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations and reduce speed, Al Nuaimi said.
