Thumbay Hospital in Dubai went pink for the launch of the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign held in association with RTA's Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC). The event saw a "Pink Ribbon Formation" of DTC's taxis on Monday.
A total of 35 taxis participated in the colourful formation, which organisers say was designed to raise awareness of breast cancer and the importance of taking steps to detect the disease early on.
Each driver who participated in the campaign was given a voucher to Thumbay Hospital which entitles them to free benefits including gynecologist consultations, mammograms and blood pressure and BMI checks, as well as discounts on some dental treatments and a gift basket.
"Through this campaign, we aim to encourage all ladies to undergo frequent screenings to safeguard themselves against breast cancer. The disease is treatable these days as long as it's found early and treatment is initiated," said Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Vice-President of the Healthcare Division of the Thumbay Group.
DTC CEO Dr Yousef Al Ali added that his organisation was proud to be a part of the campaign.
"We hope that the campaign would lead to more women being educated on the issue of breast cancer, eventually saving lives," he said. - reporters@khaleejtimes.com
