All it takes is about a hundred footsteps along the dock leading to Pierchic restaurant to experience one of Dubai’s most secluded and breathtaking dining destinations.

Pierchic is by no means a stranger to the city’s culinary scene, regularly lauded for its unrivaled seclusion, romantic atmosphere and quality seafood cuisine. Located offshore in the shadow of the iconic Burj Al Arab hotel, the upscale restaurant is often cited as the kind of place you should splurge on at least once during your time in the UAE.

It’s been an busy few months for Pierchic following an extensive renovation that has increased the size of its indoor seating area and added two over-water al fresco bar pods boasting enviable views. Upon arrival to Madinat Jumeirah’s beach area outside Al Qasr, you’ll make your way along the lengthy wooden entry deck dimly lit by plastic art deco light sculptures towards the restaurant’s main hall, standing elegantly on stilts awash in neon blue.

Located in the middle of the sea, the restaurant features dazzling views of Dubai’s coastline as the sound of crashing waves provide a welcomed dinner soundtrack. The newly refurbished interior is simple and understated, featuring dark wood floor boards and paneling as well as charming lamps fashioned from fishing nets and sea glass.

Once you’ve settled down at a seat inside or on the modest al fresco deck, the attentive staff will help guide you through the revamped menu’s newest selections. It’s no secret that Pierchic is notoriously expensive. But with Jumeirah Restaurant Week’s current promotion available until May 23, there’s no better time to take advantage of the discount packages on offer that include a three-course set menu for Dhs370, giving guests the chance to sample an incredible range of creations from the kitchen of Chef Rosalind Parsk, whose recent menu overhaul included input from three Michelin star Chef Laurent Gras.

The set menu includes a triad of starters, mains and desserts. For starters, a light vegetarian-friendly option is the Avocado Tartar which features grilled king oyster mushrooms served on a bed of radish salad in lemon oil. For something a bit more gratifying, try the Braised Short Rib Ravioli served with tomato essence and packed with beef flavour. This dumpling dish, made from scratch and soaked in a white cream sauce, is a divine incarnation of Italian cooking expertise. If seafood is your pleasure, sample the Grilled Loch Fyne Diver Scallops coated in bergamot butter and served atop tapioca pearl sauce. Pan fried to perfection, the dish scores well for its simplicity and savouriness.

Coming up to the main course, you have a choice between fish, meat or vegetarian. The Roasted Yellowtail served atop celery root, julienne cut green apple and a jolt of heavenly black truffle sauce does well with its contrasting flavour combinations. The Baked Australian Lamb Loin flanked by potato gnocchi, arugula leaves and swimming in a thick brown gravy was a clear table favourite for its substantial portion size and distinctive home-style taste. Lastly for the vegetarian fare is Steamed Tofu and Butternut served with spinach, pistachio, fennel and green tea wakame broth that leaves a positive impression with its imaginative blend of rich ingredients.

Dessert packs on the final punch with French-inspired selections that are as decadent as they are dazzling. The Mille-feuille of Chocolate, served with cocoa crumble and dulce de leche, should do just right for those with a serious sweet tooth, while the Creme Brulée Flambé served with berries achieves equally high marks for taste and presentation. For a a lighter digestive try the Coconut Pavlova featuring mango passion sorbet and compressed fruit.
