Abu Dhabi CBSE school topper was told not to study too hard

Abu Dhabi - Abu Dhabi Indian School had 78 students securing more than 90 per cent from the total of 182 in the science stream

Indian schools in the Capital produced strong results as the CBSE Class 12 results were announced on Sunday. Leading light among them was Varun Shaji, who top-scored with 98.2 per cent. The science student of Abu Dhabi Indian School missed being the UAE topper by 0.2 per cent.
Varun's mantra for success is simple - prepare well and don't cram lessons last minute.
"I had good support from principal, teachers and friends. My teachers used to help with notes and better understanding of concepts. I used to learn well in advance. We should be focused and concentrate right from the first day," he told Khaleej Times as to how others can follow his success in coming years.
What about the pressure of repeating Class 10 success of being school topper?
"Actually, I was expecting this result. I had done my hard work. Unlike others, my parents would never put pressure on me. They were pillar of support for me. In fact, they would tell me not to study too much."
Neelakantan has scored 100 in chemistry, 99 in physics and computer science, 97 in maths and 96 in English to make it 491 out of 500. And he likes to pursue a career in engineering.
Abu Dhabi Indian School had 78 students securing more than 90 per cent from the total of 182 who had appeared under the science stream. Also, 162 science students secured distinction. Among 115 commerce students, eight got more than 90 per cent. Also, Pooja Rajesh Kondiparambathu with 97.4 per cent in commerce stream is another overall school topper at Abu Dhabi Indian School.
The school also saw two students score 100 in maths. Second best score in science was also from a boy - Dipro Tapas Ray with 97.4 per cent.
"We had top results this year. I am proud of them all," school principal Neeraj Bhargava said.
The oldest school in the Capital - St Joseph's School, too, registered good show. The school had a 100-per cent result. Amritha Sennappa Sudharsan was science topper with 95.8 per cent. She got 97 each in physics and chemistry. Three science students - Amalu Treasa Prince, Anita Mahil Inbanathan and Anisha Mariam Abraham were all tied second best at 93.8 per cent. Merlin Ann Jacob secured 95 per cent to top commerce stream.
Model School Abu Dhabi had 22 students appear in the exams. "We have a 100-per cent result," principal VV Abdul Kader said.
"The school toppers are Livea Rose Paul followed by Bincy Charley and Hasna Ashraf," Kader said.
Bright Riders School saw top scores of 99 (physics and chemistry) 98 (English and maths). The science stream topper had 96 per cent.
