The Abu Dhabi Police have showcased an airbag concept that would protect school buses during accidents. The concept was showcased at the police's kiosk at Yas Mall as part of the UAE Innovation Month.
The police said the invention is comprised of a rubber inflation 20cms thick device that is located in the rear and front of the vehicle, as well as a rubber pneumatic bag inserted between the brakes.
High-caliber sensors function to inflate the bag to absorb the brunt of any impact. This initiative will increase and elevate the safety standards of the school buses. "It also increases public confidence in such innovative transportation methods that the Abu Dhabi Police provide," said the police.
The idea was the brainchild of Maha Zayd Al Saqqaf Al Hashmi, head of cultural and moral guidance at public relations, financial sector, and services department.
