Abu Dhabi residents want additional cameras and radars installed on the emirate's roads, to catch tailgaters and erring motorists.
As part of Abu Dhabi Police's online campaign, members of the public interacted with the police online, saying that tailgating and use of mobile phones are the two most common and dangerous driving violations.
In the 'Share Your Comment' part of the campaign, residents were asked for suggestions on making the roads safer.
Colonel Mohammed Ali Al Muhairi, Abu Dhabi Police director for the security media department, said the initiative saw high participation from residents after the video of a horrific crash was shared on social media - it showed an accident resulting from a driver jumping the red light.
The campaign will share more such videos of traffic violations.
Col Al Muhairi said reducing accidents is the collective responsibility of the police and the community, and the successful implementation of traffic regulatory and legislative frameworks is dependent on the road safety culture.
Meanwhile, the Fujairah Police have issued a warning on their social media account, to all beachgoers in the emirate.
"The police warn residents against driving vehicles and motorcycles along the umbrella beach zone. This is for the safety of all beachgoers. Patrols will be dispatched to ensure compliance. Those found violating the rule will be fined Dh1,000, given 8 black points and have their vehicle confiscated for 7 days," the Fujairah Police posted on its official Instagram account.
