Abu Dhabi students briefed on dangers of driving without license

Abu Dhabi - The event is a part of a series of campaigns organised by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate for the benefit of young people.

The Traffic and Patrols Directorate of Abu Dhabi Police has organised a scientific awareness council in Al Khazna, for about 100 students. The awareness council comes in line with the directorate's programme to open communication channels and encourage dialogue with young people about the dangers of reckless driving and driving without a license.
The event is a part of a series of campaigns organised by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate for the benefit of young people. They aim to acquaint young drivers with the importance of abiding by traffic laws and regulations.
In a speech, Counselor Ali Al Hashemi commended the Abu Dhabi Police's initiative to enhance young people's traffic culture and protect them from accidents. He also pointed out that violating traffic regulations compromises safety and causes deadly accidents.
Colonel Jamal Salem Al Ameri, Chief of the Public Relations Section at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate, gave an interactive presentation, showcasing the dangers of using the self-balancing two-wheel electric scooters [hoverboards]. He pointed out that the Federal Traffic Council has warned, on many occasions, of the danger of those toys to children.
He also warned against the danger of playing in the streets, calling upon parents to establish the quality of toys and safety means, such as brakes, and to make sure that toys are safe and age-appropriate. He called on children to avoid playing without protective equipment, such as a helmet, knee, elbow and wrist pads, and to play in allocated areas such as parks and sports venues.
