In implementation of the directives of UAE's leaders stressing the importance of revamping the handling of disasters, emergencies and crises, Musabbah Mubarak Al Murar, Acting General Manager of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality, has recently opened Emergency, Crises and Disasters Control Room in the municipality's head office at Shaikh Zayed Street.
"This project reflects the municipal system's commitment to adopt the latest methods applicable in handling disasters and crises in order to ensure a safe, secure and healthy environment for everyone."
"The project would also leverage the municipality's efficiency in facing the challenges ahead, and enhance the capabilities of emergency prediction and response teams," added Al Murar.
Al Murar reiterated the municipality's keenness to utilise state-of-the-art technologies to support predictive and preventive actions to mitigate natural hazards undermining the safety of community members.
He said that the Emergency, Crises, Disasters Management System would support decision-makers and provide a database capable of ensuring the safest and most effective procedures to address such emergencies.
In the same context, the Environment, Health and Safety Office at Abu Dhabi City Municipality, which is responsible for overseeing the Project at Abu Dhabi City Municipality, said: "This project is intended to complete the migration from improvised disasters control methods, which are no longer practicable in addressing crises, to the integrated, systematic, and planned phase."
The municipality also intends to adopt the preventive prediction policy as a prerequisite in the crisis control process to avoid emergencies, crises or disasters.
