Ajman has approved a remote working system permanently for government employees. Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, the representative of His Highness the Ruler of Ajman for Administrative and Financial Affairs, has issued a decision stipulating that the system be applied to all local government agencies.
State news agency Wam reported on Monday that employees on probation and those who require to be physically present in their offices for work will not be part of the e-work system.
There are two types of remote working. The first requires employees to work 100 per cent from outside the office. The second employs a partial remote working system, where employees report to office on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. Each government entity has been given the option to choose the e-system that works best for them.
The system will enable employees to work remotely from outside the country if required, at the sole discretion of relevant government authorities.
The move aims to establish a mechanism that ensures continuity of business and the provision of government services at all times. All government authorities will need to draft a study on the system's compatibility with the nature of their work, functions, workloads and services.
As the Covid-19 pandemic hit, federal and local government entities had shut offices to curb the virus spread, but continued offering services online efficiently. Most of the offices have reopened.
