The Ajman Police has recently introduced 50 police patrol vehicles with advanced lighting system to be used by community police in residential areas.
The cars are equipped with high beams that produce colorful lights, to be used in residential areas in case of emergency, instead of noisy sirens.
Addressing a press conference, Brigadier Shaikh Sultan Al Nuaimi, chief of Ajman Police, said that this is considered the first of its kind in the country.
He added that the light has special characteristics that ensure vision in residential areas for patrols.
The patrols with this light will drive around in residential areas and around towers and buildings to be able to detect any problem without using noisy sirens in the night.
"This night lighting in the patrol cars is one of advanced techniques used in US. Ajman is the first emirate to implement it in the country," he said.
By the end of the year all 50 cars will be modified to have the advanced lights. The patrols using these cars will be responsible of solving all community issues including small ones such as water pipe breakage, power default, fighting and other street problems.
On trial period, the patrols which will be equipped with lighting cars, reported 700 security cases in residential area and referred it to concerned authority to follow it and solve it.
These patrols will deal with community cases in top secrecy, despite some cases such as fighting which require witnesses.
Ajman Police also has developed new technique to receive complaints and forward them to concerned authorities.
The patrol cars with advanced lights will be operated by natural gas to ensure clean environment in residential area.
"We have now environment friendly nine cars operating in patrol department and we are working on transforming all other cars to operate by natural gas to protect environment," he disclosed.
