The Ajman Public Transport Authority (Apta) has unveiled the new look of its Masaar cards, which are used to pay for public transport in the emirate.
Besides having a more vibrant design, the new Masaar card has clear, illustrated instructions on how it can be topped up. Developing this smart card for public transport is part of efforts to improve the service and encourage more residents to use alternative payment methods, Apta said.
Omar Lootah, executive director of the authority's Operations Sector, said the move aimed at achieving the Ajman 2021 vision and the emirate's digital transformation strategy.
To use the Masaar card, a passenger will just have to hold it near the card reader installed on the bus. In this way, riders no longer have to wait for a paper ticket from the bus driver. Cards can be purchased from stations, public transport buses, or via Apta's website or smart app.
