The Ajman Municipality has announced that the sheesha cafes in the emirate will reopen on August 9 with strict precautionary measures. On a circular issued on Thursday, the municipality listed the measures to be taken to prevent the spread of Covid-19 while the smoking areas and sheesha cafes are reopened. All the staff should wear masks while at the cafes and adhere to strict hand washing routine after serving every customer. Social distancing of two metres must be followed between the tables and only four people should be allowed in each table. No gatherings or parties will be permitted. Temperature checks are mandatory for all the visitors and those with temperature above 37.5 degree Celsius should not be allowed to enter the premises, the circular said.
The municipality also asked the sheesha cafes to follow health and safety guidelines at the staff accommodation and transportation facilities and ensure frequent cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces and common areas. All the employees should present a Covid-19 negative test result before working at the facility. The cafes are also asked to keep a record of all the staff and visitors to enable contact tracing in future, if necessary. Only disposable sheesha hoses will be allowed and sheeshas should be washed after every use. anuwarrier@khaleejtimes.com
