Al Ain Zoo will reopen to visitors, starting August 6, according to an update from the zoo management.
The establishment has confirmed that it will resume operations from Thursday to Saturday, from 9am to 9pm - and that the reopening includes the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre too.
Ghanim Mubarak Al Hajeri, Director General of Al Ain Zoo, said: "The opening of the zoo coincides with a return to normal life, with the zoo taking all the precautions stipulated by competent authorities."
He added that no more than 1,800 visitors per day would be permitted entry to the zoo, while the main theatre of the Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre would be able to receive no more than 53 visitors in order to ensure the safety of all.
Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the electronic ticket-booking option on the zoo's website or app, as part of Covid-19 precautionary measures in place to protect public health.
However, two ticket counters will also be open for anyone who wishes to purchase tickets on site.
The zoo has introduced all the necessary safety protocols under the theme 'ZoOut Safe' to ensure that visitors have a memorable experience exploring natural wildlife.
Al Hajeri said, "We are following all the necessary safety measures, such as leaving a protective distance between cars in the parking area and adding space in restaurants and retail stores."
Separate entry and exit areas will be provided for all exhibits and different zoo locations.
Meanwhile, all visitors will need to submit to a temperature check before entry - and ensure they wear masks and gloves.
The statement added that Al Ain Zoo will be implementing all sterilisation procedures and safety measures to ensure the safety of visitors, employees, and animals alike.
