Emirates NBD, Dubai's largest bank, on Wednesday said that it had resolved all the technical issues that customers had been facing while the bank upgraded its systems.
"As previously communicated, Emirates NBD has undertaken an important system upgrade of its core banking platform. I would like to update that our teams have resolved issues and have restored digital banking services across all channels," said Abdulla Qassem, group chief operating officer of Emirates NBD.
The bank encountered "teething problems" during the process of upgrading its systems, because of which some customers were not able to carry out some transactions.
"We are closely monitoring the situation and continue to improve service performance as more customers access our digital banking platforms. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to our valued customers due to the service interruption and remain committed to addressing their concerns," said Qassem.
UAE's banks have been investing heavily in the deployment and upgradation of their technologies as customers are increasingly opting for online and mobile banking.
As part of its Dh1 billion digital transformation drive, Emirates NBD completed the third phase of its international core banking system upgrade in December 2019 to boost innovation and efficiency across its domestic and international operations.
In the second-quarter of 2020, Emirates NBD said it experienced an increase in the number of both retail and corporate customers using its digital offering.
The bank said its branches are operational and available to service customer banking needs. "We would like to thank our customers for their patience as we work to restore uninterrupted online and mobile banking services that should be available soon," said the statement.
