As the UAE braces for five days of rain, government officials are urging employers to let their staff work from home, or at least provide them with a flexible schedule.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) on Sunday, December 15, tweeted an advisory, reminding companies to keep their employees' safety in mind during current unstable weather conditions.
Rainfall is expected in the country over the next five days, according to the latest announcement from National Centre for Meteorology (NCM).

Through its circular, the MoHRE gave employers the following pointers: Provide an employee with safety requirements amid the unstable weather conditions; take late arrival to work into consideration; raise employees' awareness of road safety; and ensure flexible working hours.
Khaleej Times' readers hailed the announcement, as they saw it on KT's Facebook story. While some were not sure if their employers would indeed offer them the option of coming in late, others said their bosses were lenient enough to follow the instruction.
A reader, Ivy Torres, said: "Hundreds, even thousands of companies are considerate, including mine and several others in our area."
Five days of rain
An official with the NCM has denied media reports that cited flash floods following five continuous days of rain; however, the UAE will experience rainfall for the next five days.
Based on the weather forecast from Sunday to Thursday, the UAE will witness experience rainfall, especially over islands, coasts, eastern and northern areas, with a drop in the temperatures.
Ensuring the safety of your employees amid the unstable weather conditions and rain in the UAE, we call on all employers to check the ministerial circular no. 8 for 2018 on employees' safety in variable climate circumstances. #UAE #MOHRE pic.twitter.com/7pvpod0ReT"The country will be affected by an extension of surface low pressure associated with an upper trough from the west, tending to form convective clouds over east and northern areas," it added.
