DUBAI - Dubai Press Club, organisers of the annual Arab Media Forum and the Arab Journalism Awards, announced on Tuesday that it has commenced work on the fourth edition of its flagship study ‘Arab Media Outlook’.
The new edition of the report will look into the significant changes taking place in the media landscape across Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Morocco, Sudan, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, the UAE, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Yemen, and for the first time Libya, and Iraq. More specifically, it will examine the shifting media consumption patterns in the UAE, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Morocco.
The sample size for the new report will include respondents from various social strata to assess their awareness on the rapid changes taking place in the media and technology sectors.
Based on a specific methodology that includes one-on-one interviews to elicit meaningful results from social groups, the survey aims to cover a larger number of media outlets from the previous edition and track the views of the youth on their choice of preferred media against the ongoing dynamic changes in the region.
Maryam bin Fahad, Executive Director, Dubai Press Club, said: “The new edition of the Arab Media Outlook will be significantly more comprehensive than the previous editions.
In addition to a series of indepth analyses, the report will evaluate the outcomes of high internet penetration, increased use of social media platforms and the limitless opportunities they offer for creating content. Given the youth’s growing impact on the media landscape, the views of the emerging generation will also be drawn out on their preferred platform of communication.”
Dubai Press Club will release the fourth Arab Media Outlook by end April at a press conference to an audience of media professionals, public policy experts and government officials.
Copies of the latest Arab Media Outlook will be distributed during the 11th Arab Media Forum that will take place on May 8 and 9 in Dubai. The Arab Media Outlook Report, in addition to the Arab Media Forum and Arab Journalism Awards, are part of the initiatives and pilot projects launched by the Dubai Press Club to drive the growth of the media sector in the Arab world.
