A drug peddler in his mid twenties have been nabbed for allegedly supplying narcotic pills among schoolboys in Abu Dhabi.
Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials also seized 6,500 psychotropic pills from the jobless Arab resident, who was found with Dh150,000 in possession, during a raid.
Colonel Dr Rashid Bursheed, Director of the CID of Abu Dhabi Police, said they got a tip off about the man who was handing out narcotic drugs among the youth, especially schoolboys, and formed a CID team to closely watch him.
"Having secured an arrest warrant from the Abu Dhabi Public Prosecution, a hotel room where the suspect was living was raided," Col. Burasheed added.
Bursheed called upon youth to steer away from any false attractions made by drug pushers, which could lead them to drug addiction and destroying their future.
Drug addiction, he said, may also lead youth to commit crimes in order to obtain money to buy narcotics.
Lt. Colonel Tahir Al Dhahiri, Head of the Anti-Narcotic Section of the CID of Abu Dhabi Police, said that "the death dealers cannot go unpunished" and officers are prepared to confront the poison (drug) dealers who target young men.
He called upon parents and student's guardians to have an eye on their kids, know their friends, the places they frequent, monitor their behaviour or any change in their health and their academic performance.
