A baggage handler at the Dubai airport has been referred to the criminal court for allegedly stealing an ink pen costing Dh5 from a passenger's bag.
The worker is said to have taken the advantage of being alone in the luggage section at the airport and opened a suitcase and stole the pen. The accused admitted to the charge brought against him by the prosecutor. He said he made a series of attempts to open the travelling bags of passengers to steal cash money or any valuable properties, yet he found none.
However, on the day of the incident, he stole the pen.
Maid held for theft
In another case, a 28-year-old African housemaid confessed to stealing a set of jewels from her Emirati employer's house, claiming that she had done that to 'decorate a table in her room'.
Giving her statements to the public prosecution, the victim said she had kept two gold rings on a table in her bedroom before she went for work in the morning in April.
When she returned, she (the employer) discovered that the two rings were missing, which made her suspect that the housemaid had stolen them.
When she searched the housemaid's bag, the victim found her jewels in addition to some garments that belonged to her and her mother. She also found other belongings under the housemaid's bed. The victim, thus, reported the housemaid to the police.
