The group has negotiated management and lease agreements with three developers which include Emaar properties, Dubai Properties and Muzoon Holdings.
In addition to Angsana Spa and Health Club which opened its doors at Dubai Marina yesterday, the group's partnership with Emaar will introduce three additional Angsana Spas at the Montgomerie Golf Course, Arabian Ranches and Emirates Hill in the second quarter of 2005.
“This (Angsana Spa and Health Club at Dubai Marina) is not only the launch of a spa, but is the first project in this area which represents our sustained long-term commitment to expand in the Middle East and North African (Mena) region,” Banyan Tree Group Executive Chairman Ho Kwon Ping told reporters at a Press conference held at the Angsana Spa and Health Club yesterday.
Angsana Spa and Health Club at Dubai Marina, founded by Banyan Tree Spa, is a 13-room spa on the third floor of the Dubai Marina mall, occupying over 2,700 square metres.
Other Banyan Tree ventures in the UAE include the development of a Banyan Tree Resort and Spa at Jumeirah Beach, a Banyan Tree Spa at The Esplanade, and a Banyan Tree Hotel and serviced apartments complete with personal spa facilities on Shaikh Zayed Road. “These developments are part of the 12 projects of the group in the Mena region. We expect both hotels — Banyan Tree Resort and Spa at Jumeirah Beach and Banyan Tree Hotel on Shaikh Zayed Road — to be completed by 2007. Construction of the resort and spa is due to start by end 2005 or early 2006,” he disclosed.
The group's other expansion drive in the region include the Angsana Spa and Angsana Spa Golf Club in El Gouna, Egypt, an Elements Spa by Banyan Tree in Kuwait and Banyan Tree Resort and Spa in Morocco.
In the international level, the Banyan Tree Group has recently opened its first Angana Spa in Malaysia and signed on agreements to develop resorts in Greece, Mexico, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Two resort projects are well underway in China.
