Everyone wants to look good, as it automatically boosts are confidence and makes us feel good. But if you notice, you will realise that most of us are never happy about the way we look. We are so busy cribbing and envying celebrities that we hardly thank God for the good health He has given us.
But have you ever moved beyond yourselves and thought about the women who are battling cancer, loosing their health as well as hair.
Majid Al Futtaim's City Centre Deira, in collaboration with the Friends of Cancer Patients Society undertook an inspirational initiative with a group of cancer survivors and women battling the disease as part of its 'Look Good, Feel Good' campaign.
The campaign highlighted the importance of boosting one's self-esteem and confidence building when the visible side-effects of cancer take its toll. Furthermore, the event encouraged the women to share their journey, from diagnosis and treatment, to lend advice to others going through the same life-changing experience and the effect the disease has on their families and loved ones.
The inspiring event invited the ladies to have fun together experimenting with fashion via an interactive wardrobe whereby outfits were styled digitally and then uploaded onto social media.
Additionally, the superwomen were treated to a beauty experience with complimentary make-up applications and nail treatments.
Following the style and beauty morning, the ladies were invited to a lunch in the mall sponsored by Ahwak restaurant.
"The 'Look Good, Feel Good' campaign allowed us to spoil a group of well-deserved and inspiring women at a fun fashion and beauty event. The event also helped build a platform for awareness in a supportive and positive environment," said Majid Al Fahim, mall manager, City Centre Deira. - saman@khaleejtimes.com
