The Al Ain civil defense has rescued an Emirati boy who had fallen into a sewage pit.
The incident occurred in Al Muraifiyah area of Al Ain City on Wednesday.
The Ministry of Interior said on their Instagram page that the operations room received information about the boy, who had fallen into a sewage hole, at 5pm.
Rescue teams from Al Maqam and Basnad police stations were immediately sent to the scene to save the child.
The men managed to pull out the boy from the 20-metre-deep hole.
The child suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The director of the civil defense department has urged the public to take good care of their children and to strictly monitor their movements so they don't wander away to dangerous places where they can harm themselves.
Authorities also reminded the public about the importance of covering all holes or pits around homes to prevent children from falling into them.
Leaving holes uncovered is an act of negligence as it poses danger to people's lives and can lead to death if some one falls into them.
