Dubai Police summoned a 25-year-old British YouTuber after his video of scaling a crane in Dubai - at an under-construction skyscraper site - went viral.

James Kingston, known for his daredevil climbs around the world, is no stranger to Dubai, having climbed several skyscrapers.

Contrary to statements made on his Twitter page, Kingston was not arrested, the police clarified.

"I have been arrested by the CID here in Dubai. Four undercover agents plucked me from my hotel room earlier today with no warning...," his had written on his Twitter page.

His latest stunt involved climbing an under construction 50-storey high tower using a crane, while shooting a video of himself.

Kingston got a lot of flak for his stunt after he posted the video on his YouTube channel, with many viewers calling it suicidal.

A top official at the Criminal Investigation Department said that despite frequent warnings by the police and concerned authorities, the YouTuber continues to violate the law and putting his life and the lives of others in danger.

The police summoned him and gave him a stern warning.

According to the police, the adventurer had been earlier stopped in 2014 when he attempted to climb up the 413 metres high Al Amira Tower.
