A company owner stood trial for allegedly molesting his female employee at office.
The 49-year-old Indian owner of a construction material trading business allegedly abused his compatriot employee several times in the past, as the complainant has claimed in the court.
He denied the woman's accusations in the Court of First Instance and claimed she complained against him as he was to end her employment contract.
The case dates back to October 29, 2015, when the businessman allegedly touched her against her will while she was at work in her office in Al Rashidiyah.
The woman said that she did not complain against her employer earlier for fear she might lose her job.
"I am single and I was afraid others would think badly of me. I did not ethink he would go that far."
The complainant added that she had been working for the accused as an accountant and administrative since June, 2015, but she quit after the incident.
She claimed that her boss used to ask her to sleep with him for money but she rejected his moves.
"I was talking to her on the phone around 3:30pm when a man walked into her office. I heard her telling him. 'Get away from me. Why you are doing this to me? Leave me alone,'" the complainant's Indian friend said.
He added that he heard the man telling the woman: "There is always a special relation between the manager and his secretary'' to which she replied: "I am an employee on a salary."
He also allegedly heard her saying: "Let go of my hand. You are hurting me'."
When questioned, the complainant's friend said that the defendant's voice is similar to that recorded in the audio tape.
The recording is being used as evidence in the case.
